Simon Downing appointed as Audiotonix Chairman
As part of the company’s ongoing strategic development, Audiotonix has announced the appointment of Simon Downing as its new group Chairman. With over 30 years of experience in the IT industry, he was the founder of software services company Civica in 2001. He led the business from inception to IPO in 2004 and through three subsequent private equity buyouts, culminating in the sale of the business for over £1billion in 2017. Today the business employs 5,000 people in seven countries and has revenues of over £450m.
In addition to his new position, Simon will continue in his roles as Chairman of Civica and Edenhouse Solutions, along with his non-executive director roles at Purplebricks and Literacy Capital plc.
Regarding his new appointment, Simon is clearly motivated by the challenge ahead. “It’s an exciting time to be part of the Audiotonix team. Their passion for the business combined with best in class engineering sits well with my own business success. There is much to learn here, but helping develop future software and hardware technologies for mission critical environments and using these solutions to further build our brands globally, will certainly play to my strengths.”
James Gordon, CEO of Audiotonix, comments “It has taken us a long time to find a Chairman with the level of experience in a technology business as well as private equity expertise. In Simon we have both, as well as a style that fits with the Audiotonix team perfectly.”
